Emirates Steel directs longs production to booming GCC construction sector

Abu Dhabi’s state-owned Emirates Steel continues to direct its rebar and wire rod production to other Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) nations, acting ceo Saeed Al Romaithi told Metal Bulletin in an interview on December 12.
The company is bidding to serve the booming demand for construction steel arising from the numerous multi-billion-dollar, government-funded infrastructure investments in the region.
Emirates Steel has increased its market share in the UAE by more than 60% through its ambitious expansion plans.
The company has invested $810 million in a 1.6 million tpy DRI plant, a 1.4 million tpy meltshop,....
