NEW YORK — U.S. ferrous scrap export trade has quietened this week as stronger domestic prices keep offshore consumers at bay.
While market sources noted several offers were made off the East Coast at $10 per tonne higher, on average, than transaction tags reported early last week (AMM, Dec. 7), there were no confirmed deals at the quoted levels.
Bulk offers to Turkey for the 80/20 mix of No. 1 and No. 2 heavy melting steel scrap have ranged between $440 and $450 per tonne c.f.r. over the past few days. Last week, one bulk cargo of the 80/20 mix was sold to Turkey at $435 per tonne c.f.r.....
