ME STEEL: Al-Tuwairqi continues campaign for 20% GCC import tax

Hilal Al-Tuwairqi, president of the Arab Iron & Steel Union, is urging the governments of the Gulf-Co-operation Council (GCC) nations to impose a 20% import tax on rebar imports to put an end to dumping practices.
Speaking to delegates at the Metal Bulletin Iron & Steel conference in Dubai on December 13, Al-Tuwairqi said that dumping of rebar imports, mainly from Turkey, was a serious problem for steelmakers in the GCC and the proposed import....
