Tharisa plans August commissioning of third chrome conc plant

South African chrome miner Tharisa is “40% through construction” of its latest chrome concentrate plant, ceo Phoevos Pouroulis told Metal Bulletin on December 14.
The plant will probably be commissioned in August 2012, boosting the company’s chrome concentrate capacity by 1.3 million tpy and run-of-mine capacity by 3.6 million tpy.
The latest unit is the company’s third concentrate plant at its operations in the Bushveld complex, about 100km north-west of Johannesburg. It will also produce an additional 120,000 oz per year of platinum group metals....
