Power outage hits Rio Tinto Alcan smelter

NEW YORK — A power outage in the Northumberland region of northeast England has left parts of Rio Tinto Alcan’s smelter in Lynemouth out of commission.

"Shortly before midnight on Dec. 13, Lynemouth Power Station lost all power, rendering it unable to provide electricity to the smelter," a company spokesman told AMM. "The cause of the power failure is still under investigation." ....
