NEW YORK Lower steel prices and compressed metal margins, particularly in the sheet and plate sectors, are expected to put a damper on Nucors fourth-quarter earnings results, the company said Thursday.
"As we expected, our profitability has decreased in the fourth quarter compared to the third quarter of 2011 but continues well ahead of 2010 levels," according to Charlotte, N.C.-based Nucor, which cited increased imports and new domestic sheet capacity as two key factors behind the expected narrowing in margins.....
