CHICAGO — Domestic metalformers have caught the tail of the manufacturing sector recovery and are beginning to thrive, according to the positive responses in the latest Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) survey.
Of the 129 PMA members surveyed, 33 percent expect economic activity to improve over the next three months, nearly triple the 11 percent who felt that way in November. Those who believe economic activity will decline in the same period fell to 10 percent this month from 28 percent previously, the report said.
"I think we are optimistic," a New England metal stamper executive said. "We think automotive is going to complete the year with some pretty good numbers and will be at least equal next year."....
