Gécamines ceo Kalej Nkand made three clear points in his interview with Metal Bulletin on December 15 as he talked about the Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC’s) plans for the future, and dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs.
First, that Gécamines does not believe it has benefited as it expected from its joint ventures with international mining partners.
Second, that one of the functions of the mining audit it will undertake is to produce the cash Gécamines needs if it is to fulfil its goal of becoming....
