Shanghai copper rises 1.7% on positive US news, but volumes low

Shanghai Futures Exchange copper prices ended up 1.7% on Wednesday thanks to boosts from overseas markets overnight. SHFE March copper settled at 54,540 yuan ($8,546) per tonne, up 930 yuan from Tuesday.
