UK secondary aluminium producers seek new markets after European shutout

UK secondary aluminium ingot prices were mostly stable on Wednesday December 21 as producers sought out new markets, with European buyers offering unacceptably low numbers due to euro weakness.
LM24 pressure diecasting ingot stayed at £1,460-1,500 ($2,276-2,338) per tonne, while LM6/LM25 gravity diecasting ingot dipped on the low end to £1,740-1,800 per tonne from £1,760-1,800.
Business volumes have slowed ahead of the year-end, but producers were still surprised by demand levels.
“I thought I would struggle for business up to Christmas, but, as it happens, the UK customers are still busy,” a producer said. “They’re all working up to Friday [December 23]....
