W. Coast tubers throw weight behind hikes

LOS ANGELES Three more mills have announced hikes on steel tubing tags on the West Coast, making a move to boost prices virtually unanimous in the face of continuing competition from outside the region.
Hannibal Industries Inc., Los Angeles, notified customers Wednesday that due to the increasing cost of flat-rolled steel, effective immediately with all new orders it would raise prices by $50 per ton ($2.50 per hundredweight), according to market sources. Searing Industries Inc., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., has also told customers that it would boost its price by $50 per ton with orders as of Wednesday, sources said. ....
