Steel port activity levels off in October

NEW YORK — U.S. steel imports continued to fall in October as exports remained mostly steady, although there were signs of volatility at some ports, according to U.S. Census Bureau USA Trade Online data.

Total imports of semi-finished product dropped 36.6 percent to 262,374 tonnes in October from 414,109 tonnes in September, mainly due to decreased shipments at the Port of Houston and the Port of Portland.....
