Upstate Shredding gets ‘go’ on Liberty rezoning

PITTSBURGH Upstate Shredding LLC-Ben Weitsman & Son Inc. has cleared a major rezoning hurdle in Liberty, N.Y., that paves the way for it to proceed with plans to relocate the former Liberty Scrap Metal Inc., which it bought last year.
The Owego, N.Y.-based recycler, which purchased Liberty Scrap in September 2010, on Monday received approval from the Liberty town board to have a new 33-acre parcel there rezoned. It had been petitioning the town board since January of this year to rezone the site to industrial use from residential, with the intention of relocating the acquired operations.....
