LOS ANGELES At least one West Coast steelmaker is said to have closed its February books, giving recent sheet price hike announcements some possible staying power in the regional market, sources told AMM.
California Steel Industries Inc. (CSI) informed customers this past week that it has filled its February books for galvanized sheet and is "unable to accept" further orders on that product for the month, market sources said. The Fontana, Calif.-based producer was said to still be booking orders for hot-rolled and cold-rolled sheet, but had reportedly indicated that order flow in the coming days would determine how long these remaining products stay open.....
