Aluminum group looks toward sustainability

NEW YORK — The Aluminum Association is hoping that 2012 will offer more opportunities to promote recycling and sustainability initiatives while it works through more difficult environmental legislation.
"There are a number of regulatory issues out there and we’re in the process of working on comments. Those deadlines—like the primary and secondary MACT (maximum achievable control technology) rules—are coming up in January, so we’re evaluating with our communities to see what those comments look like," Aluminum Association president Heidi Brock said. "The issues where we’ll be adding some emphasis to are in the areas of sustainability . . . and to make sure we continue to understand the industry’s baseline situation and how we can continue to grow and....
