Nichols workers strike at two Iowa plants

NEW YORK — Nichols Aluminum Inc. is operating at reduced capacity after unionized workers went on strike.

About 225 employees represented by Teamsters Local 371 at the aluminum sheet producer’s two Davenport, Iowa, facilities walked out Friday evening after contract negotiations stalled in the past week.

"We have a contingency plan for a strike, so we’re implementing the plan with the objective of satisfying our customers’ needs," Dennis Hoaglin, Nichols spokesman and safety manager, told AMM.....
