Groups seek action on Russian export ban

NEW YORK — A number of trade groups are urging the United States government to act quickly against scrap export restrictions that went into force this month at several eastern Russia ports.

"Russia has traditionally been a major exporter of steel scrap. Since 2007, however, Russia’s exports of scrap have plunged as a result of a combination of export taxes and administrative measures," Alan Price, a trade attorney at Wiley Rein LLP and president of the American Scrap....
