NAS to increase 300-series stainless prices

NEW YORK North American Stainless Inc. (NAS) will increase prices on all 300-series stainless steel products, except Grade 301, by reducing the functional discount by 2 percentage points, and has adjusted its base price for Grade 316L to $1.98 per pound effective with April 1 shipments.
The Ghent, Ky.-based company also increased its surcharges for rolled-on and Best Brite finishes, according to its website.
NAS previously increased prices on just 301 stainless (AMM, Jan. 30), failing to follow the other three large domestic millsWest Chester-based AK Steel Corp.; Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Ludlum Corp., a division of Allegheny Technologies Inc. (ATI); and ThyssenKrupp Stainless North America Inc.in increasing all 300-series grades for March.....
