ATI sponge facility qualified for aerospace

LOS ANGELES The newest domestic titanium sponge plant has achieved another milestone as Allegheny Technologies Inc. says it is now qualified to supply the aerospace industry.
ATIs Rowley, Utah facility, which started up at the end of 2009, has completed the standard grade (SQ) qualification process, the Pittsburgh-based specialty metals producer said this week. The plant has been undergoing a series of audits and inspections in order to achieve this goal, during which it produced sponge for industrial and other non-aerospace uses. ....
