CHICAGO Business activity will hold at current levels or even rise in the second quarter vs. the preceding three months, 95 percent of roll formers, stampers, fabricators and tool and die makers predicted in the monthly business conditions report from the Precision Metalforming Association (PMA).
"Backlogs are very strong, primarily as a function of the automotive industry and some new non-automotive platforms we have been able to get into," a western Great Lakes progressive die stamper said Thursday. "We will even see a slight improvement in the second quarter, provided there are no tsunamis."....
