Gerdau allocates $18M for downstream bar

CHICAGO — Gerdau Special Steel North America has committed to spending $18 million on its downstream bar-processing capacity and to adding certain capabilities.

This latest capital investment, on top of $9 million in improvements already under way, will fund a new production line for the quench and tempering process and a complete bar-processing line at the steelmaker’s Huntington, Ind., plant, president Jack Finlayson said in a statement.....
