Boeing grounding its titanium scrap auctions

Boeing Co.’s benchmark titanium scrap auctions are poised to become a thing of the past, and a similar fate might not be far behind for secondary aluminum, a senior executive of the aerospace company told AMM.

Boeing’s sale of major titanium and aluminum scrap grades from the Puget Sound-area plants of its Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) unit in Seattle are winding down as it moves to revert scrap generated from the production of its airliners and feed directly back to the titanium mills that supplied the metal.....
