Nucor executives take aim at EPA, NLRB

CHICAGO Nothing is getting done on Capitol Hill, according to Jennifer Diggins, director of public affairs at Nucor Corp., but the administration is keeping busy, in some cases making it more difficult and costly for manufacturing industries to meet a series of mandates.
Diggins and Rick Blume, general manager of commercial for Nucors steelmaking group, both spoke of the pitfalls of a so-called do-nothing Congress during the CommodityEdge conference in Chicago hosted by MetalMiner.com.
They claimed that the Obama administration is getting around certain failed legislation, such as cap-and-trade and card check, by using rulemaking powers at agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).....
