Mexican steel sector to grow despite pressure

MEXICO CITY Mexicos steel industry is expected to expand this year as investmentparticularly in automotive applicationscontinues to grow, even as a number of cost and policy concerns overshadow the sector, according to the top executive of Canacero, Mexicos iron and steel association.
Mexican steel output is forecast to rise nearly 5 percent this year to 19 million tonnes from 18.1 million tonnes previously, while investment over the next three or four years will total $15 billion vs. $19 billion over the past two decades, Canaceros newly elected president, Alonso Ancira Elizondo, told reporters at a press conference in Mexico City.....
