China steelmakers facing obstacles: Baoshan

SHANGHAI, China Chinese steelmakers must be willing to embrace new environmental standards and tackle changes in the countrys labor force and an overcapacity in production to remain successful in a sluggish economy, according to Jiang Li, chief market analyst at Baoshan Iron & Steel Co. Ltd.
"Chinas steel market has had a very rapid development in the past, but the future model will change. How can we deal with these kinds of challenges? We now need to think clearly," Li said at the 10th International Steel Market and Trade Conference in Shanghai, China, hosted by the China Iron and Steel Association (Cisa) and the Metallurgical Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. ....
