Hindustan Copper aims to quadruple copper mine capacity by 2017

Hindustan Copper aims to quadruple its copper mining capacity to 12.4 million tonnes by 2017 to help make up for a shortage in domestic copper supply, chairman and md Shakeel Ahmed told Metal Bulletin.
“Copper demand in India is about 600,000 tpy. Last year, domestic production was only 30,000 tonnes,” Ahmed said on the sidelines of the Asia Mining Congress in Singapore.
India has met the shortfall by importing from Chile, Indonesia,....
