Xstrata-Merafe closes two more ferro-chrome furnaces

Xstrata Alloys will close two more ferro-chrome furnaces in South Africa under an amended agreement with state power group Eskom, taking another 30,000 tonnes out of the market, its joint-venture partner Merafe Resources said on Friday March 30.
The Xstrata-Merafe Chrome Venture already has five furnaces offline: four at its Rustenburg plant and one at its Wonderkop plant. ....
