More overseas steel plate mills targeting US

NEW YORK The domestic carbon steel plate sector may see a pickup in offerings from overseas mills traditionally absent from the U.S. market, traders said, citing strong conditions in the United States relative to other countries.
"There are a lot more countries interested in (shipping) to the U.S. these days. Some of these dont include the typical players," one steel trader said. "Its a combination of the European market thats terrible and a U.S. plate market thats paying more than anyone else in the world by a long shot. Its pretty simply, really."
Canada, South Korea and Russia are still by far the top international suppliers to the domestic marketplace, but according to trader sources there also have been a growing number of attractive offers for plate from mills in Britain, Italy and Ukrainecountries that traditionally have offered very little material stateside.....
