Alcoa to cut 390,000T of alumina capacity

NEW YORK Alcoa Inc. will reduce its alumina capacity by 390,000 tonnes per year to align production with previously announced smelter curtailments, the company said Thursday.
The Pittsburgh-based aluminum producer plans to cut alumina output at its refiners in the Atlantic region, and expects the closures to be completed in the next few days, a spokeswoman told AMM. The Atlantic region represents about 50 percent of Alcoas total global refining capacity of 18 million tonnes per year.....
