Smuggled ferrosilicon keeps market depressed

NEW YORK — Ferrosilicon prices have softened as some material allegedly smuggled into Vietnam from China to avoid export duties has again made its way to the United States, sources said.

"There was some Vietnamese material that came into Baltimore recently," one trader said. "You can sell that (Vietnamese) material around the 90-cent (per pound) level and still make some margin."....
