SC county OKs ordinances for Nucor growth

CHICAGO The Darlington County (S.C.) Council has voted to approve ordinances to support a major expansion project by Nucor Corp., which operates a steelmaking facility and mill in Darlington that produces merchant bar, special bar quality (SBQ) and reinforcing steel bar, a local official told AMM.
"Their new investment is about $120 million," Billy Baldwin, chairman of the county council, told AMM Friday. "We approved the ordinances (that cover) a fee in lieu of taxes, which Nucor has had ever since it came to Darlington. When they do X number of dollars in improvements, we can extend the existing program or give them....
