First Quantum takeover rumours emerge

First Quantum Minerals is at the centre of new takeover speculation, as market participants say at least three of the big five mining and metals companies could be interested.
Glencore, Rio Tinto and Anglo American are all rumoured to be looking at the Zambia and Mauritania-focused copper gold miner.
“I think First Quantum is the number one merger and acquisition candidate of all the mid-tier mining companies at the moment,” a London-based analyst told Metal Bulletin.
