Gécamines denies Kipoi copper sale to Australia’s Tiger Resources

Gécamines, the state-owned miner in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), has denied reports that it is selling its 40% stake in the Kipoi copper and cobalt project to Australia-listed junior miner Tiger Resources.
Tiger Resources, which owns a controlling 60% stake in Kipoi, near Lubumbashi in the country’s Katanga province, said in March that a deal to buy Gécamines’ 40% stake would be concluded by mid-2012.
