Stainless steel mill Aperam took the lead in settling quarterly ferro-chrome prices in Europe for April-June, agreeing the price with Xstrata and its marketing partner Glencore.
Aperam’s decision to take a more active role could be linked to consumer concerns about South African ferro-chrome supply, which is constrained by power capacity in the country, market sources said.
