Metal prices post modest increases

CHICAGO Pricing gains were modest at best for most metals during March compared with the previous month, and several showed sharp drops from a year ago, according to the producer price index (PPI) report released Thursday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The PPI for steel mill products fell 0.6 percent in March vs. February but rose 0.4 percent from last year, while the PPI for iron and steel scrap was up 1.4 percent month over month but down 3.5 percent from a year ago.....
