SDI’s net income halved in first quarter

NEW YORK Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) saw net income plunge 56.9 percent in the first quarter on sales that fell 1.7 percent from the same period in 2011.
The Fort Wayne, Ind.-based steel producer posted net income of $45.7 million on sales of $1.98 billion during the three months ended March 31, down from $105.9 million in net income on sales of $2.02 billion....
