CHICAGO Nucor Corp.s special bar quality (SBQ) operations continue to benefit from improving demand in a number of key end-use segments, particularly the booming automotive industry, executives said this past week.
"Our SBQ business is capitalizing on strength in the automotive, energy, agricultural and heavy-equipment markets," president and chief operating officer John J. Ferriola told investors Thursday, noting that Nucor has already started work on a $290-million initiative to raise SBQ and wire-rod capacity by 1 million tons at....
