NEW YORK — Free-market aluminum scrap prices were largely steady Monday in slow trading stemming from an industry convention last week and a depressed but stable London Metal Exchange.

Old sheet remained at 72 to 74 cents per pound and old cast at 75 to 77 cents, while A380.1 was steady at $1.08 to $1.09 per pound.

The LME’s North American special aluminum alloy contract cash price closed the official session at $2,007 per tonne (91 cents per pound) Monday, down 0.7 percent from Thursday’s close at $2,021 per tonne (91.7 cents per pound).....
