Better days ahead for steel: AK's Wainscott

NEW YORK The outlook for domestic flat-rolled steel demand continues to improve, AK Steel Holding Corp.s top executive said Tuesday, even as overcapacity headwinds continue to overshadow the slowly recovering sector.
"In general, we continue to see a slow but steady economic recovery," chairman, president and chief executive officer James L. Wainscott said during a conference call with investors Tuesday. "I know that sounds like a bit of a broken record, but its the most accurate description of what we continue to observe."
As a result of the forecast improvement, the company said it expects to turn a profit in the second quarter after three consecutive quarterly losses.....
