Century Aluminum in the red for third straight quarter

NEW YORK Century Aluminum Co. recorded a loss in the first quarter of 2012, its third consecutive quarter in the red, after results were negatively impacted by an unrealized loss on forward contracts.
Century posted a net loss of $3.9 million for the three months ended March 31 in contrast to net income of $23 million in the same period last year, but a marked improvement over a $31.1-million net loss in the fourth quarter....
