MEIR ON METALS: Markets steady ahead of Fed communications

Analyst Ed Meir looks at what is moving the metal markets on Wednesday April 25. Copper and General Commentary: Metals pushed higher on Tuesday, with copper rising over 1% and partly reversing Monday’s sharp losses. A better tone in the European credit markets and a firmer euro combined to help the complex advance. Trading volume was heavy, particularly on COMEX, where turnover was some 40% above the 30-day average. Other markets were also stronger, with equity markets breathing easier on account of relatively successful Dutch, Spanish, and Italian debt sales.
