TMK Q1 pipe sales down 2% on dip in Russian domestic demand

Sales by Russia’s largest steel pipe producer, TMK, were down by 2% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2012 on weak demand for large-diameter pipe (LDP) in the domestic market, the company reported on Thursday April 26.
Total sales at TMK, which operates 24 facilities in Russia, the USA, Romania and Kazakhstan, edged down to 1.05 million tonnes in the quarter, from 1.08 million tonnes in the first three months of 2011.
