NEW YORK Rio Tinto Alcan has brought its Arvida smelter back online after a 10-day outage.
The Montreal-based aluminum producer replaced the cylinder used to cast billet at Arvida, a 110,000-tonne-per-year facility in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region in Quebec, and it has been ramping up the smelter after pushing the first metal on April 18, sources familiar with the plant told AMM. ....
