Norsk Hydro’s first-quarter results presentation highlights the shifting focus of pure-play aluminium producers toward the upstream, where they see more value.
Low aluminium prices have pushed diversified miners away from the light metal, but for pure aluminium producers that is not an option. As a result, companies such as Hydro have been focusing more on their bauxite and alumina businesses.
