L.B. Foster net soars on strong sales

TORONTO — L.B. Foster Co.’s earnings soared in the first quarter thanks to strength in the rail and tubular markets and despite continued weakness in the construction sector.

The Pittsburgh-based manufacturer, fabricator and distributor of products and services for the rail, construction, energy and utility markets posted net income of nearly $3.4 million vs. $679,000 in the first three months of last year on sales that inched up 1.2 percent to more than $118.5 million.....
