April steel imports head for 1-plus-year high

NEW YORK — April steel imports look poised to hit their highest number in more than a year on expected strong gains from Russia and South Korea, according to import license application data from the Commerce Department’s Import Administration.

Import license applications hit nearly 2.79 million tonnes last month, up 6 percent from March preliminary figures of 2.63 million tonnes, according to data released Wednesday.....
