Harsco swings to red amid weaker demand, charges

PITTSBURGH Harsco Corp. said it was caught off guard by weaker global demand from its steelmaking customers, adding that demand from European and Middle Eastern markets might not return until the second half of the year.
The Harrisburg, Pa.-based mill services provider swung to a net loss of $29.4 million during the first quarter, in contrast to year-earlier net income of $11.4 million, as revenue fell 3.4 percent to $752.3 million from nearly $779.1 million.....
