Rolling blackouts in DRC lead to metal production cuts - sources

Equipment failure at a plant at the Inga hydroelectric dam in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), coupled with felled power lines and cable theft, has caused rolling blackouts across the country, leading to disruption at metals and mining operations, Metal Bulletin understands.
Sources have said a converter at the plant failed, and erosion caused as many as eleven power lines to fall, while the continuing issue of cable theft for scrap metal has also contributed to the blackouts. ....
