Peruvian mining ministry defends Conga copper-gold project

The Peruvian ministry of mines and energy has reassured the population of Cajamarca in Peru that Newmont Minings $4.8 billion Conga copper and gold project will benefit the region without having a negative environmental impact.
Deputy mining minister Guillermo Shinno Huamaní has told local authorities in Cajamarca that the Conga project, in the countrys northern highlands, will be good for the region. ....
