NEW YORK — A U.S. Navy civilian employee has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for allegedly embezzling government property and filing false tax returns as part of a scrap metal scam.

Christopher Hill, 47, of Lusby, Md., was sentenced this past week in U.S. District Court in Maryland, according to a statement from Rod Rosenstein, U.S. attorney for the District of Maryland. As part of a plea agreement made....
